Many international students studying at universities in the UK often seek part-time employment for various reasons, such as financial assistance, skill development, and filling their free time. Engaging in part-time work can help students reduce their educational debt and acquire valuable experience.
For international students seeking part-time work in the UK, it is important to understand the various types of part-time jobs available. There are two main options for overseas students looking for part-time employment in the UK: on-campus and off-campus jobs. Below, we provide more details on each type of job.
On-campus jobs are one type of part-time work available to overseas students in the UK. These jobs are located within the university campus, making them easily accessible to students. On-campus jobs can be found in various departments on campus, such as the library, computer labs, reception areas, gyms, and cafeterias. However, due to limited availability, many students may struggle to secure these positions.

Off-campus jobs are another option for international students seeking part-time work in the UK. While these jobs may be easier to find, they are not necessarily located close to the university campus. Positions such as office assistants, receptionists, waiters/waitresses, call center operators, data entry clerks, and more fall under this category. Students must obtain authorization from their institutions to work off-campus part-time.
In addition to on-campus and off-campus jobs, international students in the UK can also explore online part-time job opportunities. Online jobs can be particularly beneficial for students enrolled in demanding programs. All you need to secure an online job is a laptop and a reliable internet connection, both of which are typically available to students.
